A Journey Through Our 2025 Outdoor Adventures
M&G Investments PE PLETT
We kicked off the 2025 events calendar with the 13th edition of South Africa’s most diverse stage race, the M&G Investments PE PLETT, held from 19 to 23 February, setting off from Mentorskraal in Jeffreys Bay. Over 250 riders across both The Ride and The Tour embarked on a remarkable four-day journey covering more than 280 km along the famous Garden Route, finishing at the Nature’s Valley Rest Camp.
For those on The Ride, it was flat out racing with personal bests and podiums on the line, while those on The Tour enjoyed a more leisurely experience, a non-timed, exploration-focused ride that included lunch en route and no pressure of timed results or a time bar.
Stage One saw riders cover 83km from Mentorskraal to Assegaaibosch Country Lodge. Stage Two was a 60.8km ride to Tsitsikamma Lodge & Spa, where participants spent the next two nights. On Stage Three, riders explored the Tsitsikamma Forest, leading into the final stage. Stage Four saw us leave Tsitsikamma, setting our sights on the finish at the end of the world-famous Garden Route in Nature’s Valley, bordering the Eastern Cape and a stone’s throw from Plettenberg Bay.

Now in its eighth edition, Rallye Raid Hogsback once again brought together a passionate mix of seasoned racers and enthusiastic amateurs. Each day offered something different, with lunches served out on the route and evenings spent around the fire, enjoying live music from Jono and exciting giveaways from our event partners.
The spirit of the event was as much about community as it was about the ride. Riders shared stories, laughter and a love for adventure, surrounded by the breathtaking scenery that makes Hogsback so unforgettable. Famous for its waterfalls and said to have inspired J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, this unique destination once again delivered a sense of wonder and escape.

M&G Investments Tour de Addo: Best of Darlington Dam
Next, we hopped back on our mountain bikes and made our way to the Darlington Region of the mighty Addo Elephant National Park for a back-to-back Tour de Addo, first from 29 March to 1 April, and then from 2 to 5 April. Riders were welcomed to a luxurious glamping village perched on the banks of the Darlington Dam, where the gentle lapping of water and the warm glow of sunrise over the park set the tone for each day’s adventure.
Supported by M&G Investments and in association with SANParks Honorary Rangers, the event brought together a small, select group of riders who immersed themselves in a three-day, three-night mountain biking journey. The trails wound through forests, open plains, and along ridges where the wind carried the scents of wildflowers and fresh earth. Addo is not just home to elephants; it stands as one of South Africa’s greatest conservation success stories, and the event contributed to that legacy, with a portion of every entry going to the SANParks Honorary Rangers to support the continued protection and development of this extraordinary park.
As riders pedaled through the park, wildlife often made its presence known. Towering elephants moved gracefully across the plains, buffalo grazed quietly in the distance, and flocks of vibrant birds painted the sky with color. The calls of the wild, the crunch of gravel beneath tires, and the camaraderie among riders created a sense of connection unlike any other. Every turn of the trail offered a new moment of wonder, allowing participants to experience the raw beauty and remarkable biodiversity that makes Addo Elephant National Park so special.

You can treat this event as a serious race or, as I prefer, a fantastic ride with good friends with time to stop & take a photo or two.
Mike, Sandy, Shaun & now Jacques are a class act. Definitely be back next year!
Our accommodation was excellent and the routes magnificent. Best marked routes ever. You just could not go wrong. Distances and elevation very accurate. Stunning system of where you fit in at start with coloured bands. The vegetation and views made it extra special as well. I will definitely do this event again.
